Bar shoe with a beveled and tapered edge to prevent the hind limb from catching when over-reaching.
Horse B - One horse with 2 completely different front hooves. The RF has vertical side walls, a dished in toe, elevated coronary band on the inside, and long and uneven heels. The LF appears more normal with a balanced shape and even coronary band, however, the hoof pastern axis is slightly broken and the heels are underslung (these can be seen in the side view). The toe of this shoe is rolled and set back from the toe of the hoof to help in break-over and easing the tug of the deep digital flexor tendon on the navicular bone. The side clips helps to maintain the shoe in position and to support the side walls of the hoof.

Glue on shoes. Horse is owned by a farrier. Horse's hoof crumbles with nails. Every supplement has been used and every treatment for poor hooves including Clear Trax for white line disease has been tried. All hooves are affected equally. This was in 2013 before I recommended adding protein to reverse all of the conditions listed here.

A winter shoe consisting of 4 Borium (a tungsten carbide material) in titanium studs and an inner rim of rubber tubing. The Borium grips slippery ice as well as asphalt. The rubber tube compresses with each step. When the hoof is lifted, the tube expands popping out the packed snow.

This "cheap" hammer is used only to drive Borium studs into shoes. The Borium is so hard that it divots and cups the surface of this steel hammer.
Borium in titanium studs (2 types) ready to be installed on winter shoes to prevent slipping on ice. They also work on asphalt.
