Incisor damage. This 7 yr old was just castrated and has an unknown past (rescued). This could possibly be from a lip chain but the gums were smooth.
#301 transverse fracture from sometime in the past in this 30 year old. The remaining spike was very sharp and the horse was leaving packed hay in the area. See the next picture for after reduction.
#301 transverse fracture from sometime in the past in this 30 year old. The spike seen in the previous picture was reduced by cutting with small compound cutters then filed smooth. While it may look tall, the remaining piece was left very smooth.

5/9/2008 = 06yr 1mo WB G - Damaged and stained surfaces of all incisors. Unknown history.
It appears that this horse has in the past (not currently) rubbed the upper incisors and wore a smooth area off the labial-occlusal surfaces of 101, 201, and 202. Or there was a fractrure event and the tongue has smoothed all the edges.
Possible trauma form some point in the past in this recently purchased 6 year old horse that has damaged 101. The missing part of this tooth was just extracted and the clump of malodorous impacted food has been removed. There is a crack seen on ther rostral-medial surface of this tooth. The distal part of 101 has movement and is separate from the remaining 101 tooth. The owner elected to keep the tooth in place and I will be watching it as time moves forward.
The rostral edge of the occlusal surface of the central incisors are rounded and chipped in this cribbing horse. In addition, there is a distinct groove on the lower incisors from rubbing on solid surfaces. Also note the labial surface of the lower incisors are worn through the enamel and cementum.
This is the metal edging on top of the stall door of the cribbing horse with the damaged incisors. It is covered with a gooey material to discourage cribbing on the edge.
These vertical aluminum bars could be rubbed against to cause the groove seen on the lower incisors of the cribbing horse.

Incisors damage
Horse A - 3 years later. Note how the tongue movement (stropping) has kept the lower incisors from over-erupting into the space above.
Incisors damage
Absent 101 and 201 upper central incisors most likely due to trauma. Note: the area is filled with soft gum tissue, the tongue has difficulty cleaning this area, and the opposing lower incisors have NOT over erupted into the space. This lack of over eruption is due to the tongue wearing the lower teeth even with the rest of the arcade.
EOTRH with abscess in 101
Upper incisors worn to the gum from cribbing.
