A hay ball found tucked behind 211, the horse unable to remove it with his tongue. This can be found in horses with very sharp upper last cheek teeth and an unwillingness to move the material out with their tongue from pain against the sharp points.
These small coarse hay stems were packed in a space between 2 teeth (called a diastema) and were cleared by pulling them out. Over time (years) and with regular floating the space diminished and no longer packed feed.
Tunnel horse - A through and through tunnel in the interdental space above the upper gum (dark holes). It is filled with hay that enters this tunnel. Not too painful but malodor was the primary reason to find this lesion. It refills between dental visits so this tunnel is permanent.

This leaf was found laying on the mandible just below #306 and 307. Apparently the horse could not remove it with his tongue. The green side is covered with fetid and fermenting feed and the underlying gum was painful and ulcerated. The owner had not seen any signs and this was an incidental finding during a routine float.

This mini has 107 and 207 deformed with medial deviation of about 45 degrees and axial rotation of about 45 degrees. The teeth sound hollow in this 19 year old but are otherwise healthy. The owner called with weight loss associated with sudden inability to chew food. Everything either dropped or were quids. water soaked senior feed was OK. The only abnormality found was feed packed in the diastema between 207/208. The pony immediately went to eating again once the foreign packed food was removed. BCS 4 = Moderately Thin - Spine ridge and rib outline are visible. The tail head may be visible.

Needle horse - A needle found in the tongue of this horse. I was taught that a lump is a lump until proven otherwise (only diagnostics can tell what is the cause of a lump). I had noticed this at yesterday’s float and this is the text the next day from the owner. The horse had developed a fever and the lump was enlarging.
