Melanoma of the nictitating membrane (3rd eyelid) diagnosed by biopsy and histopathology. This is 1 year after surgical removal of the 3rd eyelid in a 28 year old horse. It is recurring and the owner is electing not to do another surgery. There is blockage of the tears to the drain so overflow down the face is the result. Also the bacteria is not being effectively removed leading to pus accumulation which also drains down the face.
This is a demonstration of how finger pressure from the right thumb is applied to move the nictitating membrane into a position for examination or for clearing any debris in the eye.
Severely affected with melanomas of the eyelids, 3rd eyelids, anus and perineum.
